AI Concierge vs. Personal Assistant vs. Traditional Concierge
Three different ways to hand a task to someone else — and the honest tradeoffs of each.
"I need someone to sort this out for me" can mean very different things depending on the task, the budget, and how often you need it done. Here's what you're actually choosing between.
Traditional concierge (hotel desk, private club, membership service)
The original version — a person, usually attached to a hotel or a paid membership, who knows a city well and can make things happen through relationships built over years. Genuinely excellent for exactly what it's designed for: a great table on short notice in a city they know intimately, tickets to something sold out, local knowledge no app has.
The limits are structural rather than a quality problem: they know one city (or a small handful), they're generally reachable during business hours, and access usually requires a hotel stay or a membership fee that can run into the thousands per year.
Best for
High-touch requests in a specific city where you already have (or are paying for) access to a genuinely well-connected desk.
Personal assistant (in-house or virtual)
A dedicated person — full-time, part-time, or a virtual assistant service — handling your requests specifically, with real context on your preferences over time. The strongest option for anything recurring or requiring judgment: managing a calendar, handling correspondence, tasks that need someone who actually knows you.
The cost reflects that: a competent PA is a meaningful ongoing salary or retainer, and even virtual assistant services are usually billed hourly or on a monthly package, which only makes sense if you're generating enough volume of tasks to justify it. Response time also depends entirely on whether they're currently working — nights and weekends are a real gap unless you're paying for round-the-clock coverage.
Best for
Ongoing, varied workload where the same person building context on you over time is genuinely valuable.
AI concierge (WhatsApp-based, on-demand)
The newest category, and the most narrowly scoped of the three by design: not a relationship, not a subordinate — a fast, always-on channel for turning a plain-language request into a real vendor, a real price, and a real outcome, in any city, at any hour. Considy works this way: you message what you need, an AI reads it, categorises it, and gets a genuine local vendor to quote and fulfil it, whether that's a delivery, a booking, or something more one-off.
The honest limits: it doesn't build the same longitudinal relationship a human PA does, and it's built for a defined set of categories rather than open-ended executive-assistant work. What it doesn't limit is availability or geography — 3am or 3pm, one city or six, the response time is the same.
Best for
Anything transactional-but-real — a delivery, a reservation, a booking, sourcing something specific — where speed and genuine local matching matter more than an ongoing relationship, and where a monthly retainer wouldn't make sense for the volume involved.
